Our Mission "Lubbock Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit Christian organization committed to the mission of eliminating substandard housing in Lubbock, Texas" Habitat for Humanity is an ecumenical Christian Organization dedicated to the idea that all people deserve a safe and decent house in which to live. Habitat is building in more than 75 foreign countries and over 1,600 cities in the U.S. and Canada. Habitat is people caring for people in a practical way. Volunteers do most of the work on Habitat homes. Funds for materials come from individuals, churches and organizations. No government funds are used for house construction. Habitat is not a give-away program. Families selected as Habitat homebuyers purchase the houses with a 20 year no profit, no interest mortgage, to make the payments affordable. |
